REPORT SHOWS RISING DEMAND FOR CONSERVATORIES & GLAZED EXTENSIONS

A new report has claimed that the UK domestic conservatory and glazed extensions market was estimated to be worth £620m at the end of 2014, and is forecast to continue with steady growth in line with the recovering housing market.

According to the ‘Domestic Conservatory & Glazed Extensions Market Report - UK 2014-2018 Analysis’ published by AMA Research, a combination of the economy recovering in general and specifically the housing market has helped to increase consumer confidence and encourage spending on higher value home improvements.

The market for conservatories and glazed extensions in the UK is forecast to see relatively buoyant rates of growth in the medium term, and is expected to reach a value of over £760m in 2018.

As shown in the graph below there is a significant increase in the amount spent on building and improving conservatories and glazed extensions from 2011 to a forecast for 2016.

UK Domestic Conservatory/Glazed Extension Market Size

"Work on existing conservatories will become a more important part of the conservatory/glazed installation market in the UK in the coming years, as more homeowners either replace or upgrade older models." said Andrew Hartley, director of AMA Research.

Lockwood Windows is perfectly placed to take advantage of the growth in the market with their experience in the design, manufacture and installation of conservatories of all types - traditional and contemporary.

Glass and polycarbonate are the two types of conservatory roof materials available from Lockwood Windows, both having different colours and various heat guarding foils to help to regulate the temperature, and reduce the solar glare inside the conservatory.

Bi-fold doors and coloured frames have also become more important to the consumer, both of which are available from the Huddersfield-based company.
