For those working in the window and door industry there have been a number of changes to minimum requirements, which have had to be applied and adhered to in order to reassure customers that they are getting the best quality product and service.

Window energy ratings (WERs) came into force in October 2009, followed by CE marking in June 2013, and then doors were added to the WERs guidelines in April last year (2014). Now, from 1 June 2015, FENSA inspectors will be checking that at least one MTC (Minimal Technical Competency) compliant installer per fitting team, and all surveyors, are compliant for the scope of work they undertake.

All of the above have been embraced, and adhered to, by PVCu window / door and composite door installer Lockwood Windows, but what does this mean for the customer?

The answer is simple - quality and professionalism. Being approved / registered with schemes such as MTC and FENSA CPS (Competent Persons Scheme) reassures customers that they will be receiving the highest standards and best practice.

Being registered with an organisation like the BFRC also gives the customer confidence that the windows being installed have been rated for their energy efficiency against the WER scheme. This is recognised within the Building Regulations to show compliance for your windows.

So when you are looking to replace your windows or doors, make sure you check your chosen installers accreditations to ensure you get the best!
