There are other ways you can reduce your emissions and kep the heating bills down!

The very best energy saving windows and doors can help you reduce your heating bills, there are other helpful things you can do to ACT ON CO2! The points below can further help you save up to £300* a year.

Most of them take nothing more than a little will power and the willingness to change a few habits – so what are you waiting for? It’s money in the bank!

1. Banish the little red light. Your TV, computer, DVD player and loads of other electrical kit in your house all use power when you leave them on standby. Switching stuff off at the mains can, on average save you £30 a year.

2. Boil what you need. If you’re making one cup of tea, then boil one cup of water. If you’re making a round, then boil as many cups as you need. It’s simple enough and can add up to £25 a year saved.

3. Look out of your windows. If it’s a clear day, hang your clothes to dry outside instead of using a tumble dryer and you could save £10 a year.

4. Energy saving light bulbs. One 20W energy saving bulb can save you £60 over its lifetime, compared to a standard 100W one.

5. Wrap up warm. It’s not just people that need to wrap up. Your hot water tank and pipes benefit from some insulation too. It’s simple to fit, and could pay for itself in 6 months.

6. Thicker = Better. You might already loft insulation, but how thick is is it? But it’s worth knowing that you should have a depth of 270mm to really see the benefits. Add some cavity wall insulation to that mix and you’re looking at up to £180 of savings per year.

7. Check the labels on white-goods. If you’re buying a new fridge, boiler, dishwasher or other electrical appliance, look out for the Energy Saving Recommended sticker. Even if it’s not the cheapest model there, it will be more efficient in the long run so you won’t be out of pocket for long.

8. Think about changing your boiler. A boiler is not a cheap bit of kit, but if yours is over 10 years old, it’s worth looking into replacing it with a new model with heating controls. It could save you around £210 per year. And that sort of money soon adds up!
